Patta is the revenue record of a land owner — it carries the owner’s name, survey number, extent (area) and land type, and is issued by the Revenue Department. Chitta is the record of land classification and tax details, maintained by the Village Administrative Officer (VAO). Together they are called Patta Chitta — the first document checked for ownership verification during a purchase or sale, for bank loans, for name transfer (mutation) and for dispute / encumbrance checks.
When you view your own record, cross-check these four things first — name, survey number, extent and land type.

Yes. Viewing Patta / Chitta and downloading the PDF on the official portal is completely free. No website can charge a government fee for it.
The Survey Number is in your sale deed, your old Patta, or the FMB sketch. It is also available at your Village VAO office.
No. Patta is a revenue record — for final confirmation, verify it together with the registered sale deed and the Encumbrance Certificate (EC).
This is a common problem. First confirm the correct name from your documents (deed, Aadhaar), then apply online for correction.
